Maya Hotels developed and manages the newly built Hilton Garden Inn in Steele Creek, directly beside Charlotte Premium Outlets and close to I-485.

Hilton Garden Inn Steele Creek Charlotte officially opened on August 19, following a soft opening period in mid-August. The six-story hotel at 4936 Trojan Drive adds 124 rooms to a part of southwest Charlotte that continues to see new restaurants, retail, housing, and hospitality development.

Charlotte Vibes is based in Steele Creek too, so a newly opened hotel this close to home immediately caught our attention. We stopped by, spoke briefly with the staff, and took a quick look around after hearing plenty of good things about the property. This wasn’t a full hotel review, but we’ll be returning for a more detailed visit.

A New Hotel in the Middle of Steele Creek Growth

The hotel opens at a time when Steele Creek is going through a noticeable business boom. New restaurants, shops, residential projects, and service businesses continue to arrive, giving people who live in the area more reasons to stay close to home for dining, shopping, entertainment, and overnight stays.

One of the hotel’s biggest advantages is its location directly behind Charlotte Premium Outlets. Hilton lists the shopping center just 0.3 miles away, putting guests within easy reach of more than 90 retailers, including adidas, American Eagle, Banana Republic Factory Store, BOSS Outlet, Coach Outlet, Columbia Factory Store, J.Crew Factory, Kate Spade New York Outlet, Levi’s Outlet Store, Michael Kors Outlet, NIKE Factory Store, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, PUMA Outlet, Timberland Outlet, Tommy Hilfiger, TUMI, Ulta, Under Armour Factory House, and many more.

The hotel is also about eight miles south of Charlotte Douglas International Airport, just off Interstate 485. In light traffic, that makes it roughly a 10-minute straight shot from CLT to Steele Creek. Carowinds Theme Park is about 8.5 miles away, while Lake Wylie, McDowell Nature Preserve, RiverGate Shopping Center, and the U.S. National Whitewater Center are also within easy reach.

That mix makes the property useful for more than airport stays. Visitors comparing Hotels in Charlotte for outlet shopping, family events, Carowinds, outdoor recreation, or business in southwest Charlotte now have another nearby option in Steele Creek.

What the New Hilton Garden Inn Includes

The hotel combines the features expected from a newer Hilton Garden Inn with several additions designed for meetings, longer stays, and local gatherings. Guests have access to free WiFi, complimentary self-parking, EV charging, an outdoor pool, a business center, connecting-room options, and a 24-hour fitness center.

Hotel Feature Details
Guest Rooms 124 rooms across six stories
Meeting Space 3,787 sq. ft. across five meeting rooms
Largest Meeting Setup 1,764 sq. ft.
Fitness Center 1,129 sq. ft. with cardio, strength, and functional training equipment
Recreation Outdoor pool
Parking Complimentary self-parking with on-site EV charging

Dining at the Hotel and More Coming This Fall

Garden Grille gives guests an on-site restaurant for breakfast and dinner, along with lounge drinks, evening room service, and access to a 24-hour snack shop. Breakfast is available for a fee.

The bigger addition is still ahead. Dear Charlotte, a standalone rooftop bar, restaurant, and event space on the hotel’s top floor, is expected to open in late fall 2026. Plans call for craft cocktails, artisan pizzas, shareable plates, and a garden-inspired setting, giving the property a dining concept that could also draw Steele Creek residents who aren’t staying overnight.

Useful for Meetings, Events, and Visiting Family

Nearly 3,800 square feet of event space gives the hotel room for business meetings, group functions, celebrations, and other local events. Five meeting rooms are available, with the largest setup listed at 1,764 square feet.

That could be especially useful in a fast-growing neighborhood where new residents often have friends and family traveling into Charlotte. Instead of sending visitors toward Uptown or farther across the city, Steele Creek residents now have a full-service hotel beside one of the area’s biggest shopping destinations and close to several major attractions.

Maya Hotels said the project will create more than 50 jobs across hotel operations, food and beverage, guest services, and other areas. Anyone interested in hospitality work can search current opportunities through Hilton Careers.
