Small Bar Morehead Is Now Open in Charlotte
Small Bar Morehead is two months into its run on West Morehead Street, with a full food menu, new weekend brunch, DoorDash delivery, sports, games, and recurring events already giving the neighborhood bar plenty of reasons to visit.

Small Bar Morehead has been open for about two months in Wesley Heights, bringing food, drinks, sports, games, outdoor space, and recurring events to the West Morehead corridor.
Small Bar Morehead opened in July 2026, but two months later there are still plenty of Charlotte residents who may not know the neighborhood bar has taken over the former JackBeagle’s Morehead space at 1404 W. Morehead St.
We stopped by on a Sunday to look around, speak with the staff, and get a feel for the new location. This wasn’t our full review, but the first impression was easy to like. The atmosphere felt relaxed and local without being quiet, with a friendly crowd, plenty of energy, and the kind of easygoing setup that makes it work for lunch, drinks, sports, or simply hanging out.
Morehead is now one of five operating Small Bar locations across the Charlotte metro area, with another location planned for NoDa. The expansion gives the local bar brand another foothold close to Uptown while putting this location within easy reach of Bank of America Stadium and the growing Wesley Heights area.
A Chill Neighborhood Bar With Plenty of Space
Small Bar Morehead combines a large indoor bar with covered and open-air patio space, TVs throughout the property, pool, darts, and room for recurring events. It feels like a neighborhood dive at its core, but the Morehead location is set up to handle much more than a simple stop for a beer.
During our visit, the space felt comfortable and social rather than overly crowded. The indoor bar has the sports-bar energy you would expect, while the outdoor areas give groups more room to spread out when the weather cooperates.

Small Bar Morehead Has a Full Food Menu
This location is more than a place to grab a drink. The current food menu covers appetizers, wings, tenders, salads, burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, and sides, making it easy to stop in for a full meal or order something while watching a game.
Current choices include the Charlotte Smash Burger, Tailgate Burger, Breakfast Burger, Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, Philly Cheesesteak, wings, chicken tenders, loaded Tachos, Buffalo Chicken Dip, quesadillas, and a build-your-own hot dog with both all-beef and plant-based options. Most burgers and sandwiches are served with fries or tots.

Weekend Brunch Is Now Served Saturday and Sunday
Small Bar Morehead has added a new weekend brunch schedule, giving the location an earlier start on both Saturdays and Sundays. Doors open at 10 a.m., and brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days.
Current Sunday Funday signage also advertises $4 mimosas, $6 Bloody Marys, and $13 domestic beer buckets. Those drink promotions can change, so they are best treated as current specials rather than permanent menu pricing.
Order Small Bar Morehead Online
Small Bar Morehead was added to DoorDash on September 15, giving customers another way to get the bar’s burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, dogs, salads, and sides without heading out.
Game Days, Cornhole, Karaoke, and Live Music
The Morehead location is leaning into events as much as food and drinks. Current promotions include Panthers tailgates, cornhole tournaments, karaoke, pool, darts, game nights, live music, and other football-focused events throughout the season.
Sports are a major part of the setup. Panthers tailgate listings advertise 19 TVs inside and on the patio, along with food, beer, cocktails, lawn games, DJs, and transportation toward Bank of America Stadium. Guests who do not head to the stadium can stay at Small Bar to watch the game.
Live music is starting to become part of the calendar too. Evenflow currently lists an October 3 show at the new Morehead location, while other event promotions point to a steady mix of entertainment as the bar settles into its first football season.

Small Bar Morehead is part of Small Bar's growing Charlotte presence, alongside locations in Dilworth and at the AvidXchange Music Factory, while a NoDa location is planned at The Joinery in Optimist Park.
