Buffalo Eatz South Tryon Review in Charlotte, NC

Buffalo Eatz earns five stars from me for its food and exceptional staff. After wings, loaded Buffalo chicken fries, and cheesesteak eggrolls at the South Tryon location, here’s why the portions and prices bring my overall rating to four.

My ConcernPortion sizes for the price

I’m a fan of Buffalo Eatz, but I’d like to get more food for the money. The taste and staff deserve five stars. The overall experience earns four because a recent visit left two of us nearly $50 down and still hungry.

A Restaurant I Like Enough to Be Honest About

I’ve tried quite a few things at Buffalo Eatz, and the food keeps giving me a reason to return.

This review focuses on the restaurant at 8156 S Tryon Street. My order included Cajun and garlic Parmesan dry wings, garlic Parmesan wet wings, loaded Buffalo chicken fries, and cheesesteak eggrolls with fries. That’s a good cross section of what brings me here, although I also have to give their Steak & Bacon Cheesesteak some attention.

I enjoy the food, and the staff is beyond exceptional. That makes the value issue frustrating. I want to recommend a place I like without leaving out something that could matter to the person paying for dinner. If you’re watching your spending or arriving with a big appetite, portion size deserves just as much attention as the menu photos.

Three Wing Flavors on My Order

I went with Cajun dry, garlic Parmesan dry, and garlic Parmesan wet wings. I enjoyed all three.

Having garlic Parmesan in both preparations gave me two ways to enjoy a flavor I like, with Cajun rounding out the order. I’m not going to pretend there was a disappointing choice just to create a winner. The wings are part of the reason I rate the food so highly, and I’d order them again.

The menu offers regular and chargrilled wings, with quantities ranging from five to 100. There are plenty of sauces and seasonings to explore beyond this order, including Loganberry, honey hot, Buffalo, and lemon pepper. Check the preparation and quantity before choosing, since chargrilling changes the price.

Loaded Buffalo Chicken Fries

The loaded Buffalo chicken fries were another part of this visit that I enjoyed.

Buffalo Eatz lists this dish as fries topped with crispy tender bites tossed in Buffalo sauce, cheese, and ranch or blue cheese. It’s a different order from their loaded chicken fries, so the Buffalo name matters if you’re looking for the version pictured here.

I like the taste enough to include these in a return order. Whether they’ll be enough for your meal is a separate question, especially if you’re splitting food. My experience here is a reminder to ask about sizes instead of judging how much you’ll get from a photograph.

Cheesesteak Eggrolls Worth Trying

The cheesesteak eggrolls with fries belong on my list of things I’ve enjoyed here, too.

Wings get plenty of attention at Buffalo Eatz, but the eggrolls give you another way to try its cheesesteak offerings. I liked these alongside the rest of my order. If you’re browsing the menu for something beyond a sub, they’re worth considering.

The Steak & Bacon Cheesesteak Gets Five Stars

I’ve also tried the Steak & Bacon Cheesesteak, and that sandwich is on point.

It gets five stars from me for taste. The menu describes chopped steak and bacon with cheese, mayo, onions, banana peppers, and sauce. If you’re deciding between a few sandwiches, this is one I can personally recommend.

My criticism is about size. The menu makes the cheesesteaks look much larger than what I’ve received. I still like the sandwich, but I’d rather know what to expect before placing an order. A good photograph can get me interested. The portion that arrives is what I’m paying for.

Nearly $50 for Two of Us

A friend and I recently spent nearly $50 at Buffalo Eatz and didn’t leave full.

That’s the main reason I can’t give the restaurant five stars overall. I’m not expecting every meal to be cheap, and I wouldn’t have the same objection to the price if the portions were larger. For what we spent, I expected a more filling meal. The food tasted good, but that didn’t make the bill feel like good value to me.

Everyone’s budget and appetite are different. Some people may be happy with the same amount of food. For me, the portions are too small for the prices, and I wouldn’t describe Buffalo Eatz as an easy fit for every budget. I can enjoy a restaurant and still be disappointed by how far my money goes there.

Before ordering: Compare the six-inch and ten-inch sub options, check the size of loaded fries, and read what each combo includes. The printed menu says combos don’t include a drink.

The Staff Deserves Its Own Five Stars

The staff is a major reason I feel positively about Buffalo Eatz.

I’d give them five stars without hesitation. Their friendliness deserves recognition, even in a review that includes criticism of pricing. My concern about value doesn’t take anything away from the people serving the food. They’re doing something right, and I want that to be clear.

Buffalo Roots on South Tryon

Buffalo Eatz was founded in 2018 by Moe, a Buffalo native who brought the food he grew up with to Charlotte.

The business now has North Tryon and South Tryon locations. Cheesesteaks, wings, and fries remain central to its menu, alongside Buffalo touches such as Loganberry wing flavor and Sahlen hot dogs. This review reflects my experience at the South Tryon restaurant in Steele Creek.

My Final Verdict

Buffalo Eatz gets 4 out of 5 stars from me. I like the wings, loaded Buffalo chicken fries, cheesesteak eggrolls, and Steak & Bacon Cheesesteak, and the staff deserves every bit of praise I’ve given them. The food and service are five-star parts of the experience. What holds the overall rating back is paying nearly $50 for two people and leaving hungry. I’d be much happier with the prices if the portions were larger. I’ll return because I enjoy eating here, but I’m recommending it with that concern out in the open. That’s the honest version.
