MexiLove Tacos & Tequila Charlotte, Our Honest Review
We went back to MexiLove for its September 16 grand opening, tried a table full of food and drinks, spent time with the team, and left with enough leftovers for round two later that night.

The food had several real standouts, the presentation was strong, the atmosphere was fun, and the staff went above and beyond. MexiLove earned the full 5-star score from the complete experience.
Grand Opening Night Gave Me a Strong First Impression
We first stopped by MexiLove before the official celebration and published our MexiLove grand opening story ahead of September 16. For the actual grand opening, I came back ready to eat, spend some time inside, meet more of the team, and see what the place felt like with the music going and the restaurant in full celebration mode.
The first thing that stood out was how much attention they put into the experience. The food came out looking good, the drinks were served in dishes and glasses that made the presentation feel more memorable, and the music kept the room lively without taking over the whole meal. It felt like a restaurant that wanted the grand opening to be a real event, not just another normal Wednesday.
The Food Delivered Some Serious Standouts
The triple loaded fries were one of my favorites. Ours came loaded with shrimp, steak, and chicken, and the seasoning was right on. There was a lot going on in one plate, but the meats still worked together instead of everything turning into one flavor.
The Trompo de Pastor was the biggest surprise for me. It came out on a skewer inside a MexiLove box with onions, cilantro, tortillas, grilled pork, and pineapple so you could build your own soft tacos. I thought it was chicken at first, then realized it was pork. I normally don’t eat pork, but that day I did, and it was so damn tender, juicy, and tasty.
I’m also usually not a fan of warm pineapple with meat. This one changed my mind. The pineapple and pork actually came together like they were supposed to be there, and the sweetness worked with the grilled meat instead of fighting it.
I also tried the enchiladas. They’ve never really been one of my go-to dishes, and I ordered them with corn tortillas without asking for flour, which I could have gotten instead. The shredded chicken inside was good, and my guest thought the enchiladas were fire, so that was clearly about my own preference and never something I counted against the restaurant.
I also liked the house cheese sauce they brought with the chips. It had a fresh green topping mixed in, and whatever they were doing with it worked. Most of the entrées came with rice and beans, and we had enough food left over to take home. The leftovers were just as good later that night after we warmed them back up.
The Soft Serve Flight Was Different in a Good Way
The soft serve flight was good, but I wouldn’t describe it like regular ice cream. The texture and sweetness reminded me more of a sweet frozen yogurt style soft serve with tequila mixed into the experience. It was cold, smooth, sweet, and different from the usual dessert or frozen drink.
I also really liked the dishes and glassware they used for the drinks. Presentation matters when you’re going out, especially somewhere built around tequila, cocktails, and a fun atmosphere, and MexiLove clearly understands that part of the experience.
The food was good, but the presentation, music, drinks, and staff are what turned it into a full night out instead of just another meal.

The Atmosphere Fits the MexiLove Name
The theme is love, and it works. The restaurant is colorful without feeling random, the music was vibing, and the whole place felt like somewhere you could take a date, bring your family, or show up with a group of friends. This building used to be an Arby’s, but they revamped it enough that it feels like a completely different place now.
The staff was exceptionally kind, friendly, and inviting. Amanda was one of the people helping make sure we were taken care of, and Emillio was our server. He was super cool throughout the visit. Service was a big reason the night felt easy from start to finish.
There’s Plenty of Parking and Room to Hang Out
There’s plenty of parking around the restaurant, and the outdoor seating gives you another option when the weather cooperates. The main entrance is easy to spot from the lot, and the standalone building gives the restaurant more room to create its own atmosphere than you’d get in a small strip-mall space.
Brunch and the Drive-Thru Give Me Reasons to Come Back
MexiLove also serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We didn’t try any of the brunch dishes on this visit, so I’m not going to pretend I have an opinion on them yet. The menu includes breakfast tacos and burritos, chilaquiles, omelets, chicken and waffles, French toast, and brunch drinks.
They also have a drive-thru lane for pickup and to-go orders, which is a nice feature for a full-service Mexican restaurant. If you already know what you want, you can pick it up without needing to park and go inside.

My Final Verdict: 5 Out of 5
MexiLove definitely went above and beyond. The strongest dishes were excellent, the presentation was on point, the music was vibing, and the staff was exceptionally kind, friendly, and inviting. We also left with so much food that the leftovers turned into another good meal later that night. That full experience is why I’m giving MexiLove 5 stars.
I live only a few minutes away, so I’ll definitely be back soon. I can already picture MexiLove going all out for Halloween. If I catch word of an event, we’ll let everyone know about it.
