The Steele Creek restaurant serves halal Nashville-style hot chicken near Charlotte Premium Outlets, I-485, and the growing Rigsby Road restaurant corridor.

Dave’s Hot Chicken officially opened its Steele Creek restaurant on May 29 after a soft opening the day before. Nearly four months later, there are still plenty of people moving into southwest Charlotte, visiting the outlet area, or simply passing through who may not realize one of the city’s newest Dave’s locations is already open on Rigsby Road.

We stopped by recently to pick up an order, and the place was slammed to the chicken bone. The dining room was busy, orders were moving, and the location looked exactly like what a growing restaurant wants to see several months after opening.

That crowd also made the address itself more interesting. There is no published statement from the local franchisees explaining why this exact parcel was chosen, but the surrounding traffic, retail, residential growth, and new restaurant development make the location look anything but random.

Rigsby Road Is Becoming a Major Restaurant Corridor

Dave’s sits at 13415 Rigsby Road, immediately beside the I-485 and Steele Creek Road interchange and close to Charlotte Premium Outlets. That puts the restaurant in front of neighborhood residents, commuters, outlet shoppers, airport-area traffic, and people moving through one of southwest Charlotte’s busiest commercial zones.

The same commercial cluster already includes another national fast-casual restaurant at the same address, and the next wave is still arriving. The continuing Rigsby Road restaurant growth includes a new Texas Roadhouse opening essentially next door at 13425 Rigsby Road.

Charlotte Premium Outlets is another major piece of the equation. The shopping center sits just minutes away and acts as a regional traffic generator, while direct access from I-485 makes this part of Steele Creek convenient for people coming from several directions.

What Dave’s Hot Chicken Serves in Steele Creek

Dave’s is built around tenders and sliders, but the current Steele Creek menu is much broader than the original stripped-down hot-chicken concept. The menu now includes bundles, mini sliders, loaded fries, mac and cheese combinations, Hot Mozz, cauliflower options, slushers, shakes, sides, sauces, and crowd-sized boxes.

Chicken can be ordered across seven heat levels: No Spice, Lite Mild, Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra Hot, and Reaper. The Reaper level requires a waiver, while the opposite end of the scale makes the restaurant accessible to people who want Dave’s flavor without the burn.

Dave’s NOT Chicken Gives Non-Chicken Diners Another Option

The menu also includes Dave’s NOT Chicken Cauli, a hand-cut cauliflower alternative prepared with the same hot-chicken approach. Options include cauliflower tenders, sliders, bites, loaded fries, loaded mac and cheese, kids meals, and larger Hot Box orders.

That means a group does not have to be entirely committed to chicken to make the stop. The cauliflower items can also be ordered across multiple heat levels, giving diners a different way to work through the same mild-to-hot flavor lineup.

Steele Creek Continues Adding New Restaurants

Dave’s arrived during a stretch of unusually fast commercial growth in Steele Creek. New restaurants, retailers, hotels, housing, and service businesses continue to fill in around South Tryon Street, Steele Creek Road, I-485, and Charlotte Premium Outlets.

That makes Dave’s part of a much larger pattern. Several recent Steele Creek restaurant openings have expanded the neighborhood’s dining options, while national brands and local concepts continue targeting the same fast-growing part of southwest Charlotte.

Residential growth matters too. More people living nearby means more repeat weekday business, not just weekend outlet traffic, while the I-485 interchange gives restaurants here access to customers well beyond the immediate neighborhood.

This Steele Creek Location Has Its Own Charlotte Identity

Dave’s restaurants use graffiti artwork as part of the brand’s visual identity, but the Steele Creek location has a local twist. The company incorporated a Carowinds-inspired roller coaster into the interior artwork, connecting the restaurant to one of the best-known attractions in southwest Charlotte.

It is a small detail, but it helps this location feel less like a copy-and-paste chain restaurant. The design gives people who know the area something immediately recognizable inside a brand that is otherwise expanding quickly across multiple markets.

Steele Creek Growth Is Bigger Than Restaurants

The restaurant boom is only one part of what is happening around the interchange. New retail, residential development, and lodging are also changing the area, with the broader Steele Creek development bringing more reasons for visitors to stay, shop, eat, and spend time in southwest Charlotte.

Charlotte Vibes is based in Steele Creek, so the pace of change is hard to miss. New businesses seem to appear constantly, and Dave’s joining Rigsby Road is another example of a national brand seeing the same growth local residents are watching in real time.

Dave’s Continues Expanding In and Around Charlotte

Steele Creek is the newest Dave’s Hot Chicken location inside Charlotte. The company also lists restaurants in Northlake, University, and Plaza Midwood, with additional restaurants operating elsewhere in the surrounding market and more expansion planned.

Local franchisees Nick and Nicole Smith have been behind the Charlotte-area rollout. The brand itself began in East Hollywood in 2017 and has since grown from a small parking-lot setup into a national restaurant chain.
